One for the guitar supporters
Just listening to "Telegraph Road" by Dire Straits, and that guitar section at the end really lights my lantern. Before that was "Slide Away" by Oasis. Absolute quality. What guitar based songs really do it for you?

Wish you where here or Animals (dog track) by pink floyd.
and suprising for a semi-queen fan I think Brian Mays' guitar sound sucks (earier stuff was OK)..
Hendrix's creamy work on a fender before he went mad was pretty cool

Nothing wrong with Mr May's playing here surely?
YouTube - 'Say It's Not True' - Queen + Paul Rodgers
Check out his contribution from 2.30 mins into the song. Makes a great song fantastic IMHO.

Ahh Dire straights; one of the few artists whos albums I can put on and just drive, and drive and drive.
Or if at home, sat back in the lazy chair in the listener's sweet spot, with a fine single malt - chilling out after a heavy night on the town.
Although; Only ever to be listened to to on a very high quality sound system. A factory car radio murders it. As does most alledged home "Hi-Fi" systems.

I am; a little But I don't subscribe to to audiovile's ethos often noted on AVforums which means £££££=Good Hi-Fi... I've never spent more that £10 on a audio lead (and even then I think its too much)
I often find more expensive stuff being the most disappointing in my book
Back ground music...yeah, stick it on a iPod @128kbit through a pair of paper speakers with farty ports for bass and whizzer cones for tweeters.

Mark Knopfler always does it for me. So many fav tracks
Gary Moore is usually a good listen, but is more of a technicion than musician IMHO. Earely Clapton and Stevie RV take some beating
I would much rather listen to good music on a cheap system than rubbish on the best audio. Most audio enthusiasts have got their priorities the wrong way around. Gold plated plugs anyone Madness.
Richard.
PS Edited to add, just listened to a couple of the links above. Playing fast and loud is not music to my ears. Especially when you're wearing silly permed hair, top hat and a *** hanging. I'm off for a Slash

Anything that bloke plays is gold to be honest; even when improvising his phrasing is sublime!
YouTube - Marillion . Steve Rothery at the Nec .

He is also very good when improvising with other guitarists live on stage too
He plays on a few tracks of Mr So & So's last Album, and I think featuring on their new album too

But, is it just me or are live recordings always a mere shadow of the original? The gigs are great (seen Dire Straights four times) but what a disappointment when you buy the CD/DVD.
The songs are too long, and every member of the band just plays flat out, generally making an uncoordinated noise
Richard.
