Arrow NURSERY WEBSITE - OPINIONS NEEDED

Done this for my girlfriends nursery - not yet finished as I'm waiting on Adobe CS3 30 day trial version to come available on the adobe site to edit it as I can't afford to buy the program! :-(

What do people think?

Is there anywhere I can download a trial of the old Flash 8 to go on editing it?

Once finished it will have hyperlinks to expanded windows with more info etc

Fairly swish - good work, although the font for the text at the bottom seems a bit out of place.

ps - I take you have permission for using pics of the kids? we got a letter round from our 3 yr old pre school class a week or two ago asking if it was ok with us to use school pics in promo material...

Music.... no, no, no. I've got the radio streaming but the site was twice as loud as that.

It is very cute and cuddly. I personally hate music on websites as it has me reaching for the close button.

Must agree with the others about the music, other than that it's looking good.

The music gave me a heart attack!

Take a look at it in different resolutions and in different browsers to see how it performs.

I can't say I'm up to date with standards these days, it's been 4 years since I did any web-dev'.

I'd set the bg colour of the HTML page to the same as the flash background so it appears to join seemlessly and format & centre the text at the bottom of the screen.

Keep experimenting

Thumbs up

Top of my head.

Music - No!
Have you got discliamers ftrom the parents for the images to be used for marketing purposes and on the web.

It looks OK, very busy, just because it is a day nursery site does not mean it has to be aimed at kids, its parents will look and choose.

Make sure there are a few testimonials from satisfied parents, referals or recommendations are real important when it cimes to day nurseries.

Mention food and nutrition, many day nursderies do not, parents are concerned about what their kids are being fed. No regs in the uuk governing food quality so make sure you mention food and the quality. Our day nursery has a qualified chef who prepars the kids meals, was part of the reaso we chose.

I was hoping to find young ladies rather than Milfs under the staff section. Do you have to be a mother to work in a nursery? Or am I not fussy enough?

the text at the bottom is a random test thing as I am trying to get google to return that as the description - it will be hidden at some point tho

any pics will have permission from parents

thanks for all the comments people - gives me a lot to think about

ps you can turn the music off at the bottom - admit it's annoying, especially when your testing it out and you've had to hear it a million times!

Spelling error on Home page, should be "Curriculum"

Not a bad site but music is too loud.

I'd say give people the option to turn the music on, not off. If I visit a website that starts playing music without me asking, I'll often close it straight away.

No. I did the exact same thing

Is that Snoopy on the website?

You may get into bother using Snoopy's image without permission. Leaving you open to court proceedings.

As already said, default to no music. I hate sites with music, especially if you want to surf at work etc.

The spinning of the bit in the middle was annoying after a while. Could it spin less times or something?

Other than that, not bad at all for a nursery site.

Glad I'm not alone in clicking on the staff page first...
