Just saw this on Liveleak, it's work safe but I have no idea what kind of animal/fish this is.

Anyone?

No idea - but I tried a Google image search for 'alien' and came up with this:

Its a Triop. There are a few different varieties, but thats what it looks like. Ive only seen small ones, dont know if that size is normal though.

Cool, living fossil, comes in various sizes, also known as Sea Monkeys!

Sea monkeys are tiny (water shrimp) i believe and deffo not triops

they grow big


i have 2 packs of eggs left , all they need is distilled water, and a lamp to hatch them, then they just get up and go


they last about 30-60 days and grow to about 3-5 cms

Hmmm, looks like a triop but obviously much bigger.

I want one as a pet.

Looks to be some sort of relative to crabs/lobsters etc, if so, I bet it'd be nice boiled for a few minutes and served with a crisp salad and some thermadore dressing.

Its a F*ckinus- Horriblis, or cold water pond horror.

thats what you worry about when barefoot in any body of non swimming pool type water.
