Question Purple sprouting what?

On a WAG/glamour model special of "The Weakest Link" recently, one of the contestants was asked:

"In food, what vegetable has a variety called a purple sprouting?"

The fact that she go it wrong was held up as an example of how thick she was. I did a quick straw poll around the office and only 2 foody girls knew the answer.

So, who actually knew it's a type of broccoli?

How do you say broccoli?

Is it 'broc o lee' or 'broc o lie'

I always used the "lee" version, is it posh to say the "lie" way?

Eat this at least once a month - better than green broccoli as the water turns really purple, and when added to bisto granules it gives you a lovely purple/brown gravy
