Default frozen bottles of stella

put 4 bottles into the freezer yesterday as i only had 2 left in my fridge and i figured they were going to go quickly, only to forget about them when i fell asleep

came in fromt work today, they are fozen solid

brought them ouyt and put them ontop of the fridge, a few mins later i came back into the room to find 2 of them "fizzing" and leaking stella from the cap

i have put all 4 of them in the sink for now to help with spillages, but they are still fizzing from the cap and leaking, are these ******* going to blow or something and more importantly, how soon before i can drink them (if they dont blow up!)

Open all of them and drink when defrosted. They will be flat but still alcoholic.

they have stopped fizzing

i have found one more inside the fridge behind a lettuce, so i will drink that, then start popping the tops off the other ones

i have another 5 crates sitting about, but none of them have been chilled

I once put a bottle of Champagne in the freezer to quick chill it, forgot about it and found it two days later, it was just a pile of glass I didn't think Champagne would freeze and shatter the bottle!

I did the same with some big cans of something beery. When I remembered them, the bottom inwards curve had pushed out, and the ring pulls had been pushed open. Still contained alcohol when I defrosted them

Easiest way is to put them into the fridge from the freezer, defrosting them slow is the best method.

Made the same mistake myself quite a few times

get a 1 litre bottle of merrydown
with the screw top
lay it down in the freezer
place a small container under the cap
as the cider freezes it pushes the alcohol out through the cap
into the container unfrozen but chilled to perfection
tasty

Flat as a witch's tit they'll be. I'd rather drink some Asda stuff rather than defrosted Stella

Did exactly the same thing a few years back. Bottle of bubbly in the freezer to chill. Forgot about it. Unfortunately in the shelf down from it was a pair of jeans as well which had chewing gum on them and so I was doing the old wives tale of freezing them...( it doesnt work btw).

Hours later heard a distant thump in the kitchen, came in to find the freezer had moved a few inches and the champagne exploded. glass everywhere and my jeans now covered in fizzy icy bubby and chewing gum

update, last night i tried taking a bottle top off while still frozen, only it went all over

so i left them in the fridge, just checked the fridge now and they are defrosted. gave one a little shake and popped a cap on one, and its frothed up a bit, so gave it a taste its not a fizzy as it should be, but its not compleatly flat, problem is its 7.47 and i have just started on the stellas, now that is a reall ****en problem

will probably just bin the others and get some fresh ones in the fridge
might take the day off work

I've found from past experience that it's far safer freezing cans of beer

They don't leak, or go flat when you defrost them, and they don't explode either, because that dimpled bit in the bottom stretches to relieve the pressure

And the real benefit of freezing your beer? When camping you get cold beer all weekend, and the bacon, sausages and burgers stay chilled too
