Errm the sat nav is built in. Just go to the Nokia site and download the MapLoader and download FOC the maps you want from Nokia.

As you say the GPS receiver is built in.

Another really good programme is Viewranger, you can use the built in GPS together with the Ordnance Survey maps, it's awesome

The Nokia maps are preloaded on my N95 8GB but I believe to use them as a SatNav you have to subscribe but I could be wrong, I usually am

Can anyone who has the phone tell me if the sat nav on these is anygood?
How easy is it to use?
Does it compare to tomtom?

I'm seriously considering one for an upgrade in a couple months

The voice guided satnav is subscription only but basic satnav is free.
Personally I find the sat nav a bit of a let down on the n95 as it can take an age to get a lock on signal.

satnav on a mobile?

that actually sounds like something worthwhile having on a mobile for once (instead of a bloody mp3 jukebox and ****e VCR player)

Old new now, but yes the N95 has Nav.
I have used it on foot, and when close to a location before, but never for a full long journey.

Its definatly a handy thing to have to hand though.

Yup as above, voice guided is subscription, without sound is free, and in fairness can be used the same way you would use a route from say the AA, in written form too.

For a freebie, I rate it highly.

Couple of months time, I would be waiting on the N96 to be honest.
Ease of use, very. Pretty simple. The worlds maps are free, I load Florida on mine as an emergency back up lol.

Various pages for it but this should help....

Nokia Europe - Nokia Maps - Download

Install Map Loader, then choose the maps you want, connect the N95 and leave it to it.

Ive got Garmin MOBILE XT on my N95 8 gig... works with internal GPS and is just as good as the tomtom software.
Bonus is that you dont have to use a bluetooth gps device...unlike the crappy tomtom.

you can get a copy from any of the good torrent sites.... but dont forget.
Its illegal to download working software you havent paid for.

The Pirate Bay - The world's largest BitTorrent tracker

what version of tomtom ?

I had version 6 and it wouldnt work with the internal gps... allthough it was rumoured that tomtom using the n95's internal gps was in the pipeline.

did you get a patch for version 6 ?
