Indiana Jones

massive disappointment imo.
Granted, i downloaded it and it was the old camcorder smuggled into the cinema routine so the picture quality was pretty shonky, but the plot was just ludicrous.
Very poor continuity from the previous films and a ****-poor plot.
I cant comment on the effects qualiy as my copy is akin to watching it on youtube while having a pair of tights over my head.

LOL at comments about the plot. It's an Indiana Jones movie. Raiders of the Lost Ark isn't exactly the most believable plot of all time is it now? What were you expecting? Citizen Kane?
As a couple of posters have said, it's just a bit of fun - no brain power required to watch it, just enjoy it for what it is and forget about it afterwards.

Quite enjoyed it, but the weakest of the Indy movies, and as has been said - far too much CG!!
*** Spoilers ***
And as for the ending - it's Indiana Jones not ET! - I like all the mystery and maybe implying some alien or out-of-this-world stuff would have been fine, but when you get to see them it just kills the mystery which a big part of the attraction.

Just returned from the cinema. At times,it was an enjojable, typical Indie film. However, the last 10 minutes spoilt the previous hour and 40 minutes. It was as if they came up with a general idea and then ran out of credible story line after a while.

Was ok. A bit long and the choice of Cate Blanchlett as a baddy was laughable - especially with that dodgy fringe.
End of the day its a 12a family film so wasnt expecting too much.
**More Spoilers**
Was predictable at the end with the whole indy hat blowing to his son as if to line him up to follow in his shoes. I really hope they dont go that way.

I was so looking forward to this movie but after seeing it, something came in my mind. IMO Spielberg should finally get picked up by aliens so we don't have to bare with such horrible plots anymore. I am more and more surprised that Schindlers' List didn't have any aliens in it. For those who don't know the previous 3 Indy movies, it might be a entertaining movie, but I strongly believe that all knowers most likely didn't enjoy the movie as they wished.

It was ok, I don't think my age and cynicism coupled with a slightly whiffy plot will let me ever recapture the way I felt leaving the cinema back in 1981 after seeing the first film.
I think Ford does a pretty good job, its believable that he is an old archaeologist, why not ?

I've just come back from seeing the film and I enjoyed it. It was a little 'pedestrian' or 'old': Everything done in slow motion, especially Karen Allen. I'm glad I went though.
I think the next Mummy film which opens on Wednesday or the new one with Angelina Jolie look interesting (from the trailers).

I actually never enjoyed any of the 'Mummy' movies but I could watch 'The Goonies' everyday. Maybe I was a little harsh on my above post. Indy 4 just didn't met my pretty high expectations.

i went to see it sunday night, thought it was good. certainly not as good as the last crusade or raiders of the lost ark.
indy has aged well in my opinion.
only bit that spoilt it i thought was the space ship at the end, would have ended fine if those beings just dissapeared without it.

I thought it was the weakest of the Indy films, including Temple of Doom. But, that's not to say it is a bad film, it just doesn't do anything new. The plot is weak, the story is weak.
Good things it does - It remains very faithful to the other Indy films, the look, the sounds, the feel of it is pure Indy. They have resisted the temptation to update everything and make it a CGI fest. Of course there is some in there, but it is few and far between.
If you like Indy, its worth seeing, if you don't you won't find anything to convert you.
It's not a bad film, it's just average, don't go in there expecting the second coming.

Disappointing really. It tried too hard to be an Indiana Jones movies, if that makes sense. Indiana Jones by numbers.
Lacked the feel of the earlier ones. Indiana Jones, it would seem, is like Monty Python. Best remembered, not revived.
All IMHO of course

Saw it last night - perfectly good entertainment - a good ripping yarn if you suspend reality and don't look too closely at it It was never going to be a serious film in that sense and it really looks like a platform to launch the sidekick kid as the 'next' Indiana.
The last 2 really good films I've seen (American Gangster and No Country For Old Men) had me and my g/f talking about them all the way home. NCFOM was so good I went and saw it again! I doubt I would do the same with this film, but it was still good entertainment. Accept it for what it is and I think you'll quite enjoy it.
