Come on Gordo, wake up and smell the roses!!
Another death, another day of doing nothing
Teenager stabbed to death in fracas - MSN News UK - news & weather
when will it finally get through to you that people have had enough!!!!
restore law and order, before its too late
if you put as much effort into dealing with this as persecuting the
motorists, then it wouldnt take long would it??

back in July 2005 I started a thread on this, listing murders caused by teenagers, and started to try and keep it up to date. I failed - theres just too many and its too depressing, but hey thats socialism for you - we're just "being fair" as they are all innocent victims of poverty you know More benefits to bring them out of poverty will cure this!

It will take a lot more than a government waking up and smelling the coffee to sort this sorry mess out.
Britain over the last 30 years has become a culture of dishonesty and violence and one where family values are shunned and almost mocked in many cases. The social fabric of Britain has been destroyed by a number of factors caused by successive greed driven short termist governments (of both parties I might add) and 'I'm alright Jack' is the moral code of the day.
Every week thousands of youg people go out with the sole intention of getting drunk and having a fight. Drinking is seen as a mark of how tough people are and drug taking is seen as a welcome release from the real world. No other country has this problem to anywhere near the same degree.
Gangs are rife because in many deprived areas many kids have no adult figure to look up to as their parents waste their lives away wondering why they ever had kids in the first place and expecting everyone else to do their parenting for them.
A mis-managed welfare state combined with a significant proporation of the population happy to defraud it completes the sorry picture.
Sorry, but I don't think it's anywhere near as simple as a government waking up. We are in way deeper than that. In fact I would say Britian has had it. It cannot come back from this - it's too late.

Well best of luck to him, but he is tackling the symptoms and not the causes. You cannot change a culture by a bit of tough policing. It's bred into these people over multiple generations now.
Sorry, but the country is screwed and sad though it may be that is the truth.
P.S. Hope you noticed how he mentioned raising tax on alcohol. Imagine if that was a NL politician saying that. You'd be frothing at the mouth by now.

In my honest opinion the problem isn't so much the people - people will always get away with bending the system as much as they can without getting prosecuted for it; it's more the fact that people in government or parliament are too scared to speak out anymore. If they stop worrying about (and pandering to) "so called" minority groups and start concentrating on the British people, maybe they'll get some support instead of antisocial behaviour....

Sorry but I disagree too. With the right tactics people can be changed - it just depends on how much pressure the state is willing to put on them!

Sorry but the problem IS the people - you just don't want to admit it. How many on here take the moral high ground over car crime yet are happy to buy and watch ripped off DVDs for instance.
The nation has had it - everyone is just out for themselves.

There has to be a turning point somewhere..This country has always been a nation of drinker's as far back as i can remember.Even when i was a teenager, which is not so long ago 14 yrs or so,Me and my mates used to get plastered on speacial red and the like. But we never went round the streets mugging, and beating people to death.with kids now today, the Boundaries have been broken, the line has been crossed. There's no deterrant, and young lads have no Fear anymore of the law.I do put alot of what's happening now, down to the breakdown of family's..If i did something wrong,i knew the old man would put me back in my place. There's no respect anymore.and i hate the way it's all being blammed on alcohol. And what's this goverments answer, shove the price of alcohol up.Why not just bring back proper punishment. To hell with this human rights bollocks,if your a criminal..My Rant is Over.
