Good news for pond peeps.....
) Haven't seen a pond thread for a while so I thought I'd post something about every pond keeper's nightmare - Blanket Weed (stringy algae). With the recent warm weather now's the time it springs into action clogging everything up
Well I think I've found the answer. It's called Blanket Answer and is made by Cloverleaf. For my pond it was fantastic and just about cleared it of weed in about a week. It's a white powder which you simply tip into a watering can and pour the mixture into the pond which goes white for about 2 days and then clears. It is harmless to fish and plants. I think it is in some shops for about 16 quid for 2000 gallon's worth but there is a guy called Tom who sells on e-bay for about 11 quid a bottle. Your pond may need regular treatments.
So my summer tip and I have tried quite a few other products
Anyone else use it? d

Since I've turned my pump off (high expensive electric bil) the waters gone green and I can't see the 30-40 odd fish

I think I used that a bit back David, mine doesnt suffer from blanket weed anymore, although the normal algae is starting to creep in again now with the warmer weather, so I guess i need to find the stuff in the garage

I've been contemplating building a raised pond lately. I'm not bothered about putting fish in it, I'd just like to have some sort of cascading water feature.
