would this plan be viable to get cheap(er) road tax next year?
with the impending £400+ touch next year i had a cunning plan to maybe soften the blow for another year
basically my car is due it's tax from 1st march and even if the reminder is printed at the lower rate that i can buy from mid feb. there's the usual small print about paying the budget rate, so no chance of getting it cheaper that way.
BUT, if i declare the car SORN, refund the tax around december, then re-tax in jan surely it would be at the current 2008 rate? worth a go?
now i don't know a thing about going SORN then getting back on the road or how long it takes, but i will probably be laid up over winter after an op which i assume will stop me from driving so i'll have a bit of time to kill.
or can you refund your tax but be legal keeping it on your driveway?
so do you reckon there's a bit of logic in this or am i getting a bit ahead of myself as usual?
