Anybody on here every taken up a franchise?

If so do you have any advice or experience you can share?

Are they any good? can you make a decent living out of it?

Considered it for quite some time and did a fair bit of digging about.
Friend who owns a bodyshop and the missus who works in the trade both recommended doing training with other companies, there are far cheaper options out there, and its where some of the best trained up.

Going it alone can work out a lot cheaper too, but of course no support from a large franchise.

I looked into the chips away franchise. It seemed ok and it looked on the face of it you would make a living, not a fortune.

They offerred me a really bad area near me that just would not have produced the business and I had to argue that it did not have the coverage. They then offerred me somewhere 35 miles from home so I would have incurred so much in the way of a running cost it would not have made sense.

All the decent sales patches have gone. For instance the one they offered me only had 2 car dealers nearby to try and get business from. the one down the road had about 20+ on his patch which made it unfair as you have to pay the same amount.
