Default Credit Cards

So after getting royally fed up with the service from my RBS card I've decided to get a backup, trouble is these things don't interest me in the slightest so I don't know what I'm looking for, I don't even know any companies other than barcleycard or however it's spelt . It'll be used abroad 99% of the time and needs to have everything available online.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Cheers.
Dave

So much choice, I'm completely out of my depth. Think I'll be going for the one with the nicest picture I think

This is the amex platinum cashback

That's for 3 months only and up to £4k spend.

After that the cashback is tiered:

0.5% for aggregate amounts up to £3,500;
1% for aggregate amounts from £3,501 to £10,000;
1.5% for aggregate amounts in excess of £10,001.

I've had one of these for 3 years. I use it for business expenses and get about £500 per year cash back for doing nowt. I like them

Interest gets paid annually too, on aniversary of taking the card

Nationwide are the only providers who don't charge a foreign transaction fee. Try for Nationwide Gold and they will try to stagger the payment dates to suit the exchange rate..... one of those "This seems too good to be true.... whats the catch" moments. There isn't one

Don't get Amex..... less than 40% of retailers now accept Amex as they get your cashback from the retailer

I have a SonyCard (which is MBNA really) ... if you spend quite a bit of money and pay it off every month then it'll give you points for Sony toys.

I was lucky enough to travel a lot for work and using my own credit card so racked up lots of points.

(all stopped now as I have a corporate Amex which hardly anyone takes...)

American express- best card and customer service by far.

True- not as many places in the uk take it, but nearly everywhere does abroad- (which is what you say is important) so its not an issue.
