I sold my scoob back in January this year and sent off the relevant documents to say I'd sold the car.
Today I receive a letter titled Failure to notify disposal of vehicle
If I don't pay them money they are taking me to court
Anyone else had this before? I don't have proof of postage so I suppose I'm stuffed.

Don't pay it and request it is taken further via their complaints process. It takes ages and shows you mean business.
I had the exact same thing and they let it go after a few months and my refusal to pay. They rely on people folding and paying up straight away.
They rarely take people to court as they have to prove you didn't comply, you don't have to prove you did. Don't be scared of their threat to clamp your car - they can only clamp the car you sold! They also threaten court action but this soooooooo rare.
Fight it. I did and won with a letter of apology from the chief exec of the whole agency.
They just send sgtandard letters with threats that most people get scared about.

That's why I always send stuff recorded delivery, plus keep a copy of what I sent. A little bit of a pain but situations like this are worth it.
As above, tell them to take a hike as you sent it back to them. If 1st class post is *proof* that a NIP was received by someone then you saying it was sent to them 1st class post should be good enough ...

Yes as Dave says above-recorded delivery means they cannot argue about receiving it.
I should tell them to get stuffed and sort their own affairs out properly, there is too much of this sort of thing.
