TomTom One ..common problem ?
Girlfriend has a TomTom One. It has been a right PITA over the last 6 months or so. It has been returned to factory defaults twice and yet even after that, it still displays the same symptons.
Not holding its charge unless attached to the cigarette lighter/in car charger or plugged in at home
And just locking up for no reason at all when in use.
Anyone else have the same issues.
Was going to write TomTom Customer services a snotty letter, just interested if it was a common fault .
Cheers

My daughters might be the same. She doesn't use it a lot, it was flat the last time I went to use it. Annoying as you can't program your route until your in the car.
I'll have to check with her if it's like this every time.

All the above reasons are why I went for a Garmin as I was told that cust service and reliability were a problem with some Tom-Tom models. Then again I know plenty who have one and haven't had any probs.
Sorry to hear of your woes guys, hope you find a decent solution!

I thought I was going mad but now not so sure.
Several times I have fully charged my 910 and then left it for a few days and when I come to use it, its very low on power. Kept thinking perhaps I hadn't charged it but I knew I had.

I have a One XL and haven't had any problems with it, other than that it does slowly go flat if you don't keep it topped up. The battery probably lasts about 2-3 weeks (switched off) before it complains.

My tomtom one does this. It wont hold a charge for more than about an hour.
I dont see a problem really though, I just leave it plugged into the *** lighter all the time now in the car.
Its possibly battery "memory effect", which can sometimes be cured by several rapid cyles of fully charging then completely discharging, rather than occasional use and "topping up" the batteries charge.

I'm 99% sure it has a Li-ion battery, in which case there's no memory effect, and it's actually better to recharge them before they're fully discharged. What you describe applied to Ni-Cd batteries which hardly anyone uses any more.
If it's flat within an hour (switched off) then there's a fault somewhere causing excess current drain, or maybe the battery is knackered.

yeah, very possible, I have no idea what type of batery it uses to be honest.
I can see it being a right pain if you use ot on a bicycle or when walking, but in a car with a readily available power supply for it, I dont see it as a problem really.

Mine is the same. Go on a long journey with it plugged into the lighter. A few days later I turn it back on in the house to plan a journey and it's dead again
I often plug it into my PC now before any journey to give it a boost. That saves arsing about in the car before setting off.
