Default DECT answering machine that isn't the base station?

Can you get one? All I can find also act as the base station and need to be plugged in but I want the answering machine to be somewhere where there isn't a socket...

My Panny DECT lets me listen to the answerphone from any handset, so it doesn't matter where the actual base-station is - or am i missing something?

Same here.
Our (Panny) DECT answerphone/base station is plugged into the socket in the living room. I can fully operate the answering machine from the remote handset which is usually in master bedroom . Would that type of set up work for you?

...for me, the fact that there were no buttons whatsoever on the base-station, gave the game away

Ah - but that's a base station with no machine, I was looking for a machine that's not a base station

For the others - small issue you can put your superior intellects to - if I go with the remote pickup of messages and the answering/base is in a cupboard (new variable!), that leaves me a charger short and I can't find any where that sells charging bases on their own...
