Default Travel Insurance

Apologies in advance for a relatively dull question.....

We have a holiday booked for October which we we will now longer be able to go on as my wife will be only 5 weeks away from giving birth - the airline wouldn't let her fly (even if we wanted to risk it) and the insurance company would not cover her.

We booked the holiday before she got pregnant.

Here's the question - the insurers are saying we are not covered for the cost of the holiday*. Anyone else been through this / any thoughts as this does not seem correct?

Thanks

*the policy booklet is vague - it does state that they won't cover costs incurred if you are less than 12 weeks from giving birth but it feels like this should relate to costs incurred if you risk travelling within this period.

Surely you can cancel and get most of your money back? Assume you have only paid a deposit? dl

Thanks David - we had actually paid for a flight so over a grand plus deposit on a villa.

Having now spoken again the insurers they will pay out.
