The give away in a lot of these poor quality scams is "Dear Customer".

Second give away for me with banking is, my bank DONT email me. So ANY email from them is a spoof.

Finally, if I ever get an email saying I need to log into my account, I close the email and open the website seperately. NEVER click email links on emails regarding anything remotely financial.

Simple rule. Never, ever click on a link sent via an email to log on an account for anything.

Always type in the URL yourself if you are going to log into an account.

Also a lot of the phishing emails will have personalised links so clicking on the links will report the fact that your email address has responded so you're likely to get even more in future

This has been made public for so long now, you almost deserved to get spanked if you actually click on one of these links.

If anyone receives an email asking for personal details, can I offer my services to help.

If you forward all the relevent details to me (Including account numbers and passwords) I will sort it all out for you. You wont have to do a thing.

Personally I wouldn't even go to those site, regardless of whether I typed or just clicked the link. Just delete the emails.

There is always the possibility that the web side may be loaded with trojans or viruses and while you may say that your PC is using the latest greatest, there may be a day when an unknown exploit is used that the Virus firms do not know about (or your PC is simply out of date by a few days).

Whether or not the site is bad the spammers may be using some sort of trackers or loggers and may know your PC is trying to connect or may just know that their latest "campaign" has produced good results.

Simply delete the emails, don't encourage them.

Whilst that is exceptionally funny, especially for you Mark , there are, sadly, many people who still fall for this stuff..

Very true there are lots that fall for them. I am still waiting for my 8.7 million Ugandan Dollars lol

If in doubt look at the headers of the email, it will tell you the source. As stated, ebay will address you by your username as do paypal.
