Default Anybody travelled Asia on their own?

I was meant to go travelling for 6 months back in October with a friend of mine, unfortunately I didnt go because I met someone who also wanted to go travelling, I was stupid enough to drop everything thinking that could work too, we have since not long split up and Im getting my funds ready to disappear. Unfortunately I have blown alot of what I have cash wise in the last 6 months partying like I was actually travelling so funds are more depleted than I had originally hoped.

Anyway, rather than travel the world I though I can cut my time down to travelling Asia extensively to the point of hoping living expenses are dramatically reduced. I must say, Im feeling quite nervous about doing this on my own. It was never the plan, I am actually a very talkative person who isnt generally worried about meeting people and Im pretty sure after a week I'll have met enough people to just go with the flow. Just the initial get on a plane for 10 hours on your own sort of thing lol.

Back to my question, anyone done this on their own who can share experiences or an online blog of how they started out etc. What sort of costs they incurred for either guest houses/hostels, an average daily spend I should be prepared for etc....

Any help would be greatly appriciated

Dave

Nice one, all similar countries Id like to visit, trying to find recent travel blogs with ideas to do and visit with a proper plan rather than just disappearing.

£10 getting pissed sounds good, although Im not generally looking to do that all the time, half the reason for travelling is to revitalise myself (how sad does that sound ) £20 a night for somewhere comfortable.... presume your talking 3star hotels there?

So Dave, is your dawgy looking for foster parents again?

It's been 17 years since I went travelling but the Rough Guides were always indispensable back then

One of my best mates is over in China at the moment training with Shaolin Monks in a secluded forest, living off berries and the blood of his rivals, and he went on his own...
He is mental.
Are you mental?
Would you like a friend called Greg?

Add £10-£15 per night if you require a "companion"

I have a mate out there at the mo who I should have gone with in October, he just sent me a message on Facebook this morning explaining he met up with random people and currently sharing a room for $5 a night.

Sal. Not 100% sure on the doggy situation, I have a friend renting a spare bedroom out at the mo who says he'd look after the dog, I guess it all depends on how long Im gone for.

As for being mad - Quite possibly so, mad that Ive took 28+ years to decide I should get off my **** before doing it

Kiwi, a man of my stature does not need to be paying for companionship

Dave i admire you having some b***ocks mate, i keep meaning to bugger off for 6 months, keep saying i'll sell this damn house of mine buy a small apartment, rent it out and bugger off with any profit for 6 months, good on you fella.

Thing is with me i want to do the U.S, Canada, Scandanavia then maybe Asia - all which would cost a bomb.
