Not really suprised. The price has gone up again around here , didn't think it went up in the budget .
Call me a sceptic but i think oil companies are lining their pockets big time while the oil lasts. Didn't Shell break the record for PROFITS made by a British company recently .

I have a fuel receipt dated 8th november 2007 that shows UL fuel at 93.9p litre.
It's 106.9p now, so an increase of 13p
13p x 55 litre fuel tank = an extra £7.15 per fill up.
I fill up once a week so it's an extra £31 per month in the space of 4 months.
That is some rate of inflation

What are they filling up....lorries!
I has never made that much difference.
Would have to have been about 30p per litre less for that.
Was it the daily mail of some other quality daily

75 litres of diesel at 89p/litre (a year ago) cost me = £66.75
75 litres of diesel at £1.15/litre () now costs = £86.25
Increase = £19.50
Thats based on a standard A4 tank - ok supermini's will have smaller tanks, and stuff like Range Rovers bigger tanks so I guess their average may be correct.
Still pretty shocking - but hey inflation is only 2.5% say the government

For a wagons 250L tank(s) it is a bit more and one of the many reason pretty much everything is costing us more.
May have been a red top, never the less accurrate.

Where does all this extra money go ?
What do Shell BP, Exxon and more importantly the British government do with it all.
Even more importantly, what will it be this time next year ?
Its not rocket science is it, drill a hole, suck it out, process it and sell it alongside Ginsters Pasties.

As long as there is a high tax by the government, a high price per barrel, fuelled by additional demand in India and China and no major increase in refining capacity then the prices will remain high

I read yesterday that crude oil prices are now back down under $100 barrell.
It is however wondrous that inflation is still so low, even though my water bill rises by over 5% a year as does my Council tax (until very recently). Fact : my car costs a tenner more to fill than it did this time last year and Lurpak Light is now over £2!!! DONT LIE TO ME ABOUT INFLATION THEN as I know which side my expensive bread is buttered (lightly)!!!!

I've just filled up with BP Sooper Dooper at £1.19 per litre. I'm not complaining. Get used to it. Or get a 'sensible' car.
Don't fancy a 206 diesel? Shut up then.
Richard.

Anything else you would like to pay more for - I'm sure they'd be delighted to arrange this for you!!! Just as long as it is inflation busting!

Rich - you also clearly dont have to drive for a living and pay for your own fuel.
Businesses are feeling this more than anyone. Oh, and the trucks that deliver you shopping to Tescos each week are paying more, so guess what, your shopping bill goes up too. Still, guess you won't complain about that either.

I'm commenting and accepting the inevitable, just not complaining about it. If governments could reduce prices with a magic wand, they would. But they can't. The world is changing, as it always has done. And there are winners and losers. Get used to it.

I got much more than 5% .... but, I think 5% was average last year.
It's just not all one way traffic is all I'm saying - the rich will be alone on the roads soon.
As long as the majority get squeezed it means that those who do not live close to the limit can do very well out of a slow market from cars to property, from TVs to hotel rooms .... those who are careful benefit.

I drive a lorry for a living. And the wagons are all tippers and my boss said to me thanks to the huge hike in fuel and road tax they dont do hardly any profit like they used to, they are keeping the wagons on the road just to keep people in employment. Just goes to show that it effects businesses too

we did the calculation based on a 12 month period from last week and the increase is circa 17% in real terms depending on where you based it on too but we used Birmingham.
Our reason was we want to balance out out allowances for fuel against the company car drivers who feel no impact of the increases.
