Are you self employed?
if so then go limited and pay your wages in dividends, you only pay a small amount of national insurance (enough to cover your healthcare) and i think your tax is something like 15%
loads of directors do this

PAYE is SO punitive but of course you have to have a VALID job title to not fall foul of IR55 (?) rules when doing this. If you are in telly (rather than IT) you are fine as no such thing as job security exists (despite what IT contractors might think...)
