Default Nokia replaced my phone with a blacklisted one!

Bricked my N95 trying to update it (thanks Neanderthal!!! https://www.scoobynet.com/computer-r...ications.html).

It had to go back to Nokia via the local authorised Nokia agent. Get exchange phone back 2 weeks ago and have been in Vodafone call centre hell ever since. Lots of apologies and promises to lift the block but yesterday they are saying I, via Nokia, need to prove I bought the phone (I bought original one from them FFS!) since the IMEI is blacklisted on it.

Right old pig in the middle now as agent says its a Network issue and doubt Nokia HQ will talk to me etc.

Anyone else had this? Any advice?

Cheers

D

(And to cap it all off my 'spare' P990i is still pants and drops Bluetooth handsfee calls after 5" in the car)

your P990i running up to date FW?

If they cant sort the N95 maybe worth looking into getting the IMEI changed... although doing so is illegal.

Yep P990 as up to-date firmware as you can get on Vodafone (imagine my trepidation updating it just after having bricked the Nokia). Its better than when I 'retired' it, but still way too buggy & slow (try opening an URL link from an e-mail - it goes phuttt, zzzz !) D

what firmware is it on? Mine was crap as you say but with the latest firmware it's been good for several months now. the important bit is what it says under the status menu. The CDA FW is the important one. Mine is R6E28

Mine was on Voda FW but I changed the CDA to global and updated to the generic FW.

Interesting! That is what I was trying to do to the Nokia that died - make it generic (the Voda firmware is over 12 months old V12 - rest of the world is on V20 so their battery lasts 30% longer!)

I have CDA R7A02 which suggests it is MORE up to date than yours even???

The worse thing is that it ends calls when on Bluetooth 5" after I answer. I have to call everyone back. Was OK pre update

I hate the branded FW's because you don't know what else is changed as you've found out.

The firmware I have is the latest for the P990i. It may well be that is just the latest number given to the VF FW. If you can I would unbrand it though. I paid for 1 credit and used this software with the supplied cable then updated via the SEUS. It was then world generic 1 FW.

..:: www.kulankendi.com ::..

I'm not sure if this can still be down or there are alternative methods now. I've seen threads saying you can fool the SEUS to do it for free.

Do you have the repair documentaion?

When my 6280 went in for repair on t mob, I got a sheet back with the inbound phones iemi number and the outbound 1.

I had the same problem untill I faxed them the sheet.

So I took it back in to the same authorised agent today and suggested an 8Gb N95 in return as goodwill for wasting at least 8 hours of my life and about a tenner over this! They sympathised, gave me a cuddle, bought me an ice cream and put me on their Xmas card list (not).

If I get a WORKING paperwiight back i'll be chuffed!
