Default considering changin my car

currently got a CRV it will hit the £300 tax (will also get rid of the van too)

i love the CRV for its ridiculous space inside, and comfy ride, and most important the "all weather" ride (excellent on snow )

what shall i look for hopefully the below £150 new car tax rates...

something that i can feel safe when it snows.. and bad weather.
loved 4x4 s but thats now a no go area

No diesel options available? I personally refuse to allow my choices to be made for me with the introduction of these new tax brackets, but I guess everyone has their limits
Just checked, CRV diesel is...
Date of Registration ...........6 Months ..12 Months Band
1 Mar 2005 – 6 Oct 2006..... £93.50..... £170.00 E

Drove one the other day and was pleasently suprised. Did about 80 miles in it

I don't think it is worth changing a car to save a couple of hundred quid in tax. It will cost far more than that just to change them.

It does look like this new tax system could seriously devalue some post 2001 cars though.

Are diesel autos no good?

I'm not a fan of autos but not sure why petrol would be better?

The tax system will push me the other way, I was staying out of Band G because of the big step up in tax.

Now that K,L and M are so close may as well go M

both our cars will be going up £90 per year next year, oh well we want to drive nice cars and 4x4's so £180 over a year is not going to put us off really.

I am also not too sure there is that much to be gained by diesel over pertrol nowdays as a few months ago it was about 2 or 3p difference from petrol but now it seems to be a min 6p litre more than petrol.

At the end of the day you have to do what you feel comfortable with and base your decisions on that.
