Not bad grimes, nice beats to it but most of these "cliques" come out with a few good tracks and then disappear.
And it's not "trying to be gangsta" - grimey beats are very much a part of the inner city area's like London, Brum, Manchester etc; There are some really good uk hip hop artists out there who have done well commercially.

I'm not from that part of Manchester but I do understand how tough they have it and why music is a good release for them. When I was younger a kid I used to play football with was from Moss Side and ended up getting himself shot and killed aged just 13. His mates who lived near him kind of just shrugged it off as one of those things that happens from time to time.
The thing is with me being from a nicer part of town (and only 12) I didn't think things like that actually happened, I thought it was all movies and gangster rap nonsense. But it really brought home to me that just 5-6 miles away from the relatively sedate area where I was raised was a completely different world. I still see some of them everynow and again and things haven't changed. It's not a nice life and it's often not a long one.
I suggest you read this book if you think they are all talk.
Anyway, like jods said, it's good to see them doing something a bit more constructive, even if you don't like the music.
I suppose your idea of a real hard nut/gangster is that idiot off The Rise of the Footsoldier, or someone who says "proppa nawwtey" at every available opportunity.

As for the plebions in the video, nothing wrong with them expressing themselves in that way. Rapper types have to start somewhere. It's kinda sweet
What is scary are the young lads on these estates who genuinely see gangsterism in a romantic light and are all to eager to try to show their metal to the dealer hierarchy by becoming "foot soldiers" and then seeing innocent people (like Rhys Jones) getting caught in the crossfire

I watch stuff like this and actually feel sad that this is going on whether they are wannabees are not. The fact of the matter is that they probably wouldn't think twice before doing your house over or mugging you and would probably walk away smiling.
This country is really getting messy.
