Default Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds

Listened to it in the car the other day whilst driving back from Rotherham having not heard it for a year or so and forgot how much I enjoyed it.

I just can't get bored of it! Got to be one of my fave CD's ever!

Makes my hair stand up in the back of my neck!

This probably has something to do with my brother and his friend terrorising me when I was young and scaring the bejesus out of me!

Still enjoy it too

Got the DVD of the Live show, watched it in full dolby digital and on a 100 inch projector screen, was pretty damn good

I really wanted to go and watch it live, however the missus due date was the date of the concert, so couldnt make it

Good for two reasons.
The first is Richard Burton. I'm not a shirtlifter and never considered it but he is a true icon. And what a voice. Nobody could have been better.
The second is of course the soundtrack. Justin Hayward and Autumn is always worth a rewind, maybe a bit naff but I remember listening to it on an old tranny when the top 40 used to play on Radio 1 on Sunday afternoons.

What really annoyed me was for the War of the Worlds film (other than Tom Cruise being in it and it generally being crap ) was that they got Morgan Freeman and threw the original text from the beginning into google's theasaurus and got him to read that

If they were really struggling I could have lent them my CD of the Original War of the Worlds to use the intro from that instead of the Morgan Freeman attempt

It a pity the Jeff Wayne version of the film seams to have come to nothing. Not heard any more on this for ages.

look for Pendragon war of the worlds.

it was released, sadly very low key in the UK,

a directors cut exists in the US version , but for some reason sale to europe is forbidden ?

if you try a torrent search :ahem: it only finds an almost complete item

Orson Welles did a radio broadcast of the book in the 30s' which had people panicking the streets - thinking it was a news report of an actual alien invasion.......!

I don't mean the Pandragon version (which I have on DVD ) ). I mean the one Jeff was going to make featuring his own sound track. Snippets of the film were shown at the live show. The tripods were the same as on the album cover.

It's also something that makes me miss vinyl and the large album sleeves and notes. Used to love looking at my fathers copy and the great artwork.
