I've always liked Harry ok he was a bit foolish when a bit younger but hey what kid isn't???

Likes to get p***ed, has a sense of humour (SS uniform anyone) and seems to be salt of the earth and just wants to serve his country.

Has really matured in the last couple of years and has really gone up in my estimation.

good on him

Has he got bored playing soldiers and wants to come home then?

Can't knock the lad really. He's a Prince with a fair bit of cash, can have any bird going and might even make it king if he tells the Taliban where his brother is.

I saw this on the news last night, fair play, he wants to muck in with the chaps, but it looks like the army are giving him the scrag ends of the conflict. They're not going to put him anywhere near any real danger, are they ?

I'm sure he is in a less dangerous area, but there is always going to be some risk even being close to a front line. I wonder just how much extra effort has gone into securing the area he was working in, and if they were allowed to call in air strikes

We all saw it on the news and continue to do so. Boring.

Last night's news wasted over 20 mins on it. Mucking in? He'll be protected like no one else and it's all a sham.

The news 'leak' was probably engineered.

oh, the news was terrible. Had to turn it off in the end, on and on and on. Then they talked about something else, and then went back to go on and on and on about him. *sigh*

I wouldn't bet on any of those assumptions.

The only place thats "safe" in Afghanistan is Kabul.

He's an Army Officer doing his job, end of it really.

As for him saying "how great it is and how he's not missing home" - I loved my time in Afghanistan; it has probably been the professional highlight of my career, and I'm quite looking forward to going back as well. I don't know any one who has served any amount of time in the forces who hasn't enjoyed Afghanistan; first tourers usually have a whinge at the end of their first deployment anywhere, as its a bit of a shock to the system.. but once your on your third or forth operational tour, you appriciate the ones that are professionally challenging, and you do find a way to get some enjoyment out of them.

Thanks to the American website who've risked the lives of British soldiers though. *****.

It was an Australian site that leaked it first, then picked up by another.

Had to be 'leaked' twice by the government for it to picked up.

With respect to you and those who you quote; I am right in assuming that you have no military experience and have never been to Afghanistan?

The Army isn't like the civilian world - he's a junior Army officer and is/will get treated as a junior Army officer. Only Generals get CP teams.. he's not a General.. he won't get a CP team. We like rules and stuff

Hey hold on a minute, yeah ok he was born imto royalty, at least he didn't grow up like bloody Edward.

He is prepared to serve queen and country and go to war and put himself on the front line with risk of getting killed, he could have quite easily sat on his a*** at home boozing and s***ing but no he chose to go to war.

i would imagine they (the lads) treat him just like anyone else probably has the p*** taken out of him to some tune.

anyone that serves their country i take my hat off to them

He cannot win can he on the one hand if he doesn't deploy he gets called all the names under the sun because he's in the Army and sitting safely at home, on the flip side when he does deploy - fair play to him too - he gets called all the names for putting other squaddies at risk and "playing soldiers".

For all those thinking he is "playing soldiers" how about have a word with yourself...At the end of the day he IS in a war zone and nobody plays soldiers!!!!!

Being a serving soldier and having done enough tours away it baffles me how people at home appear to be so naive about the boys on tour. Exactly how safe can afghan - any region - be!

As for the foreign press that have leaked this story they deserve to be deployed to afghan and serve next to Harry "toy soldier"..... A**eholes.

Didnt think being in Afghan or the likes could be more dangerous, turns out all you have to do is let the media loose!

More ammo for the cause of "Anti (not the family kind ) Harry".

He's gone up in my estimation, too. Give the guy some credit. And the UK press, too. Shame on the foreign media for blowing the story and possibly endangering our troops.

Personally I think it's pretty cool that he's doing his bit for Granny and Country (although no more cool than the other 8000 or so Brit soldiers out there). Media coverage has been irritation, and as for the US/Aussie websites that released the story, they are the real "*******" in this episode !
