Quite right, and until you've experienced it for yourself in certain countries, people have no idea! A LOT of things/situations aren't reported on the news because the authorities of these countries do not let it be because they rely on tourism to prop up their economies so much.
I recently flew Etihad extensively and while the airline staff, service, food and aircraft were 100% top notch up there with the best a lot of their pax simply did not know how to act/behave in a civilised manor at all. Probably the worst i've ever experienced in fact on any airline.
