Re-locating to Germany

About 30 mins from the Ring, thanks for asking ;-)
I need some advice on how to find an apartment over there. I'm really struggling finding estate agents because apparently most people advertise in local papers, and TESCO's don't sell the 'Rheinzeitung'.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks a lot,
Scooby-Dude

I live in dusseldorf, and I found a few places on the internet. If you are moving with work, get them to put you in contact with someone in the german office who could help.
Remember that if you go through an agent you will get charged up to one month's rent as commission if you stay 6 months - if you stay another 6 months, you pay another 1 month's rent in commission again!
Private is probally the best. Better off going for an apartment that has everything inclusive in the rent, as the germany electricity board can be real c**ts at times..
hope this helps!!

Thanks guys,
Krankyd, I am indeed moving with work, but it's a brand new base being set up so I will be one of the first ones over there. Can you remember any of the web-addresses?
Thanks,

only for some agency's in dusseldorf - to be honest, you are probally better off staying in a hotel for a few weeks, getting the local papers and looking at a few apartments. It will take at least a few weeks to sort it all out, and to find an apartment that you like!
If you dont speak german, take someone along who speaks some (doh !! ) , because it will be a lot easier..Just rememeber to set your bank accout up as soon as you get mooved in. Dresdner bank only want a passport to open an account..
