Getting rid of mice.

Getting rid of mice.
Has anyone used one of the electromagnetic/ultrasonic type traps?
Have seen a couple of mice about in the house and, in all fairness, they are not contributing to the mortgage so I want them out. Last time it happened, couple of yers ago, I used chocolate spread on the traps and caught 4, end of problem. Tried same again this time without as much as a sniff. Had a stand off with one the other night (I think the banner saying 'we want nutella' may mean I am using the wrong bait).
I do not want to get a cat and would rather not use poison as they are under the floorboards so I won't be able to get at the dead ones.
Help!!

The blue mouse poison stuff really works.
I trapped about 6 of the buggers but they were all over the kitchen and in the roof space in particular.
Whopped down some of the poison covered seed and it all disappeared and so did the mice
Oh & there wasn't any smell at all. They are so small that when they decompose there is no odour.

We bought some Neosorexa poison 'block in a box' from our local farmers feed supply place. It's a ready-to-use self-contained bait station. The mice eat it and go back to their nests to die. We've had no problem with smells but the mice have gone

I use poison, its little sachets of red gel. It smeels like sweeties to me, and seemingly mice and rats go bok for it, although its supposed to be repulsive for cats and dogs.
The poison contains a dessicant which dries out the corpse so no rotting and no smells, just a little mouse skeleton if you ever find it.
Problem is, Im in a large converted barn in the countryside and its begining to cost a fair whack to keep the poison going, so Im looking at these ultrasonic repellers. I have ordered some, but they havent arrived yet.

"Rat Zapper" works well, uses 4 AA batteries to kill them - to death!

Just had the same problem and, speaking to others, so have lots of people. maybe something to do with the mild weather followed by a cold snap that drove them all indoors.
I just got some old fashioned traps that take their heads off. Chocolate spread did the trick. Put them in the cupboards downstairs and put poison down in the loft. Seen/heard nothing for days now.
Also, if you have airbricks then try to put a pencil into one of the holes. If a pencil fits then mice can get in. Thuis weekend will be partly spent going around the house filing in any small holes that could let them in. You can also get mesh covers for your airbricks. Only found one supplier so far and turns out they are all white and I need brown. But brown Hammerite should do the trick there.

Got one of those ultrasonic things, it worked for a while but it doesnt work on Deaf mice though
ASDA Smart Price Chocolate spread is a firm favourite on the traps though
And dont listen to Puff, dead mice have a stench that is likened to a crack *****'s knickers after a busy saturday night (especially when you pick them up and black pus oozes out of them - the mice that is not the crack ****** )
I have 10 miles of farmers fields at the back of the house and have pretty much always had a few mice in the garage, but lately the Rats have come again
It is mainly due to the excessive amount of rain we have that has flooded the fields and sent the rats to the houses

I have found that the ultrasonic jobber does work, certainly very rarely see a mouse in the house now. You need to get a good one rather than a cheapo verion. The one that puts a noise into the house wiring is a good one.

It certainly wasn't that cheap, but that coupled with 4 or 5 traps in key locations got rid of most of them, but they have come back and have moved to under the shower where there are no electrics
So, I may just run an extension socket under there to give them a buzz

Use Nippers - pre-baited traps that you set with just one click - no faffin' about like the old wire ones. They are quite cheap. Six mice in two days in my shed - no problems.

I used to use the humane traps and caught a couple and then liberated them to the woods down the road.
After a while they figured out the traps and could take the chocolate without getting caught so had to resort to the old fashioned '50p' traps.

Spent £30 on an ultrasonic jobby which was placed outside my bedroom only to be woken by the little critters running around my bedroom and when challenged them they ran straight past the bloody US scarer.
Tried various traps and poison but must have one of them Mensa mouse as never caught jack.
Wife's decide a cat is the best deterrent
