Heart Rate Monitor - Help Please
I am looking at buying a Polar F11 Heart Rate Monitor.
Has anyone got one, What do you think ??
I am totally unfit and am looking to use it on my bike, but also to keep an eye on my condition .....
The reason I have come to the conclusion of the Polar F11 is the belt that is worn with it. Its the new updated version and looks to be more comfy.
Anyone using a Polor watch ??

Had a polar M50 for quite a number of years and have used it when out on the mountainbike. the chest straps never been a problem.
Still going srtong on the original battery (talking a good five years I'd say)
Iv'e just bought a rowing machine with a heart rate pick in it and Blow me the chest strap is compatible with that too.
Perfect!
Great bit of kit to keep you in "the zone"

I've got one, it's an excellent watch and I think the strap is a lot more comfortable. Plus it has a user changeble battery.
Bought all mine from here :
Polar F55 heart rate monitor Polar F55 hrm. Polar heart rate monitors
Excellent service.

The best price for a Polar F11 is £84.99 delivered... some shops (internet) are charging over £114 for the same.

I have a Polar FS1 which I use when running. My treadmill has a HRM and is way out compaired to the Watch. It's good to make sure your not over training as I was when I started running. Mine is the cheepo one but does the job I need it for.

Cheers Jer .... Thinking the same now.
The F11 has a nice look about it and the updated strap, and also a lot of gizzmo's I will never ever use or need. All for £84.95
Or I go for the Polar F5 basic HRM older design strap £44.95
Ummm ......... I dont see any real gain in going for the F11 now, as Fuzz has said the older straps are comfy .
Jez ... Your watch would have the T31 strap ... How do you find it ?

Wish,
I have a Polar F11, I've been using it for about 15 months now since my wife bought it for me as a birthday present. It's been great keeping track of my heart rate when exercising and the calories burned at the end (1600 from an hour an a half of serious off-road biking).
Plus side:
Robust unit, easy to use, splash-proof, light.
Minus side:
Strap can become uncomfortable after a while (which can put you off your stride), gets occasional interference at the gym, chest strap sometimes takes a whie to pick up heart rate.
I do quite a lot of exercise but to be honest, all I want is an accurate(ish) read-out of what my heart-rate is and how many calories I've burned. All the gps, altimeter, mumbo-jumbo on the more advanced models is a bit OTT to be honest, and if you've got time to read all that then you are obviously not exercising hard enough
Hope that helps

Wish,
I've got an F4 which is has a coded band.
I agree with Skyline's comments. My F4 does all I want, I wouldn't bother getting anything else. If you go in the gym, or do fun runs the coding thing is useful, if you don't then it will be a waste of time.
Great things though. Taught me that excercise doesn't (shouldn't!) hurt
