iPod Question
I want a decent one, being cost effective & something to listen to whilst on the beach....don't need a video thing just the option to listen to lots of music.
Any tips, idea's or pointers...
Cheers

Personally I went for the iPod 80Gb Classic. Under £150, enough room for a normal person's entire collection, plays video as well, looks great, sounds great (with Sennheiser headphones), battery lasts ages and very easy to use.
And this from someone who isn't an Apple fan generally.

The iPod Nano is pretty good (Although it does play video). Cost is £129 for the 8gb version. And as per a previous thread of mine, it is beauty personified (for a gadget).
Otherwise as above the standard iPod has lots of space and functional.

I like my shuffle. 1G (approx 200 songs) 12 hours battery life and VERY small and neat. But you can't select a particular song. £40. Creative do theie own version for about £20.
As others have said its horses for courses. A nano is small and neat, a 'Classic' is bigger but stores more and is cheap.
Of course other music players are available, but Apple have really cornered the market.

Classic 20GB and its perfect for me 3341 songs loaded on it at the minute, 9.2 days of constant music to listen too in total, something for every mood, loads of piccies loaded on it too and great battery life. Beats all other MP3 players hands down that Ive used.
Paid £80 for it on ebay complete with a speaker docking station and charger etc Bargain.

I found that the iPhone is **** as a phone, and much thicker as a unit. Plus more expensive for the same amount of storage space.

Wow, what a lot of info and advice to take in.....thanks guy's
I think I will go for the 8gb Nano, that seems to have more than enough for what I need, unless there are others which might be a little more compatable with my below questions
Just one other question:
With an ipod, can you use them to play through your car equipment, providing you have a decent enough ICE installed.
Also, can I get an output that would go from the ipod to phono inputs on a domestic Hi-Fi amp (Marantz)
Sti Prodrive, the beach will be Baga Beach in Goa in late March...lol

You don't need a decent ICE system - Just one that has input for a CD Changer (which 99.99% do) You can then get an adapter that you plug into the head unit, and into your iPod, and you can then change tracks/albums on the head unit, as well as charge your iPod.
Don;t get an FM transmitter, by comparison they are rubbish.

Yup, you can either get a docking station which your iPod sits in and plays all your music or you can just just a 3.5mm Jack plug to Phono plugs to connect it to a Stereo
As for the car, Id get a Griffen FM transmitter, basically it plugs into the bottom of your iPod and transmits the music via a frequency and you just tune your radio into the same frequency and bobs your mothers brother

It's at least 6,385 times better and safer than having to changed tracks by holding the ipod in yor hand and looking into the tiny nano screen whilst driving to try and find the album you want, all the time hoping that you don't run out of charge or that the old bill mistake you for sending a text on your mobile.

lol Sorry I wasnt considering looking at the nano screen looking at the iPod and changing tracks is no different to looking at your stereo to change a track
