Default Private car use for work purposes..mileage???

My boss sent me on a training course in Leeds and he asked if I would drive down, not a problem, checked with my car insurance and it was ok.

I travelled 462miles all in and used £70 in petrol was told that I would get my expenses back and wear and tear for using my own car (1.6 Nissan Qashqai its our everyday car), got my payslip and got £184 back for mileage which equals to 2.5p per mile is this correct?
Never got petrol money back either?

Anyone got any info on this?

Thanks
S!

£184 / 462 miles = 40p per mile....?

... which is fairly standard.

40p per mile

That's exactly what our company pays out. Only it comes out of petty cash, so you don't get taxed on it.

lol

If its any consolation (I think) 40p is the maximum amount a company can pay without having to deduct tax..

No, cos the petrol money is included in the 40p per mile (for the first 10,000 miles - less thereafter)

You may want to change your view on the smiley

As above - you don't get taxed on up to 40 p a mile for the first 10,000 and 25p (IIRC) a mile thereafter.
