arnt airsoft mainly known for just BB guns? firing little rubber ***** where as an air pistol will be shooting .177 or .22 pellets and cause much better damage to a pidgeon or cat (joke for all you cat lovers out there)

Airsoft fire 6mm plastic ball bearings and are allowed to be full auto due to the power output (muzzle energy). Also usually spring or motor driven.
CO2 pistols and rifles fall under the same rules as air rifles and pistols, hence pistols are only allowed to be semi auto. Power is gained from Co2 canister in the firearm concerned. In terms of calibers there is no limit, but power is limited to 6ft/lbs for pistols and 12 ft/lbs for rifles.
