Can i charge my N95 via the USB port ?

As above, i have lost a charger (i think i left it in a hotel) & my other spare one is in the yard. Seeing as i am heading south i dont have anything to charge my phone .... can my USB cable that you use for downloading & stuff be used ?

Similar to the ipod ?

It should do the job but it will be very slow. It will charge a bit faster with the phone switched off.

My E51 won't take a charge via the USB port. No idea why.

If i recall, the answers NO, according to nokia

it certainly is for my N95 8Gb

I will try it tonight, if all else fails i will buy a charger in a service station on the way down

Fair enough- maybe it needs more than the 5v a usb gives out as standard.

You must have the only N73 that can do that as both my current and previous N73's can be charged only via a Nokia charger. If you have the older size charger you can get an adapter for the N95, N73 etc, so no is the answer.

I had an N73 and the only way I could charge that was through the mains.

NO it doesn't support USB charging. See Nokia N95 Review - My-Symbian.com - S60 3rd Edition Just before section 2.

But go here USB Charger Lead - Nokia phones and get a cable that will charge it.

Dunno what the problem is myself. Just have a charger lead in the car and have a spare Nokia charger about. Get an older style one with the thicker connector and get a thick-to-thin adaptor and you're all set.
