Geneva Airport - French / Swiss side?
Hi,
I am flying into Genava soon an a skiing trip to France. I hear that there are some problems with the airport having 2 parts (french and swiss). I need to hire a car and drive to france. What is the best side to hire from??
A mate of mine go stung last year when he tried to drive in switzerland when the car was hired in France?? Something about a missing sticker......?
Any comments?
Cheers,
Matt.

If you are flying into Geneva from the UK, you'll fly into the Swiss side. You can hire a car to drive into France, not a problem. The problem your mate had was probably to do with the sticker (called a vignette) to drive on the motorways in Switzerland -- it's mandatory. Costs 40 swiss francs. If you need any more info I'll be glad to help as I live here and you can see my house when you fly in

when you land at the airport there is signs saying that if you need to go to france then you go to a certain area.
its clearly marked anyway, i flew there last month to the swiss side but you can get into french customs without a problem.
just found out i got a fine from avis for speeding too, bloody french swiss , only 10kmh over the limit too.
