Question When is a song a "song"?

Just been listening to the Electric Proms with Mark Ronson (from 2007) and he says "This song next song might wake you up a little bit".

The band then launch into a wordless (lyricless) tune called 'God put a smile on your face' - does that count as a song or an instrumental?

Just curious...

It's originally a song with lyrics by Coldplay.

A song is a song when it's not played by radio 1!

I would say a "song" by definition, has to be sung.

But yeah, this was a coldplay tune originally.
