You have an allowance every tax year say £5000 and you are only taxed if you start earning over that. So the good news is that if that is all you have earnt in the tax year (April to April) you will get that tax back. Your employer will not have your history so will deduct tax. You or your employer need to contact your tax office (your employer will have this information) and the tax office will then issue a Tax Coding number which tells your employer how much, if any, tax to deduct. NI is a % of your earnings - about 11% I think. Others here will have the exact details. dl

Bloody hell it looks like it is too.

At that amount pa you should be paying hardly any tax given you personal allowance should be 4-5k anyway.

Basically yes although your employer may already be in touch. Tax offices are usually very helpful (unless you are a builder ) and have a chat. Talk to person who does your company payroll as well.

Not sure about 2nd job but tax office will advise on this as well.

Note your employer wil have some company tax reference to identify them so get this info before you phone tax office. It may be on your payslip.
