I do like most seafood, thought I'd try making the Gordon Ramsay recipe on the cookalong the other night.

i used to work on a boat that dredged for them. you will either love them or hate them. Esther my wife loves them, i hate them and find them totally in-edible. they make me gag!

Absolutely lovely when cooked right. Only takes a minute or so in a little oil. Overcook them and they are like rubber. Cant really describe them - certainly not really like any other fish / shellfish

Queen scallops the nicest - Some people don't like the orange bit (Roe i presume) but it's the tastiest bit.

Clams are far tastier than scalls, and try some oysters with shallots finely chopped in white wine vinegar and a touch of tabasco on top, Wayhoo awsome.

It's the roe of the female scallop - it's called the coral - apparently some people find this the tastiest part Apparently if you remove them, don't throw them away as they are great for fish stocks and soup ( which can be frozen then used as needed).

I don't like seafood but they look horrible

Yorkshire - The home of proper food

In Yorkshire, a scallop is a slice of potato in batter, maybe three inches in diameter

I've never eaten them myself, but would imagine they taste pretty similar to oysters. The little buggers can actually swim a bit!

I like all kinds of shell fish and I hacve some fresh Devon scallops every week with some fish,

They have a delicate taste and you can safely eat the whole thing including the orange bit.

As was said, it is important not to leave them in the frying pan for too long.

Try and find a local fishmonger. I'm sure there's been an increased demand for these since the Ramsey programme, so more places are probably stocking them!

We had them for a christmas dinner starter at our local pub this year. Apparently they are it bit bland on their own but ours were in a mild curry sauce with crispy battered onions and they were delicious , not cheap though
