Margate- availability of hotels / b&b 23-24th feb
We're in town for the beach race, but haven't sorted anywhere to stay yet...
Looks like we're running the new works Can-Am 450 quad in the pro class, and we're hoping they'll send a motorhome too
Never been to Margate before- any recommendations?

Margate - I wouldnt stay anywhere in Margate. Try a travel lodge before getting in to margate, about 20 mins away or there is a new Holiday Inn just opened up near Manston, 7 -10 mins way from Margate.
As to hotels in Margate they now all house the channel tunnel runners, stay well clear. As Bob Geldof said a couple of weeks ago in the papers, Margates a shyte hole

One problem with being out of town- Jack Daniels. We need to be fairly close to the centre. I'm waiting for a response from the organisers to find out where we can put the motorhome as that might be the best bet...

The arcade the burnt down belonged to the new owner of Dreamland.
Now the arcade has gone it could possibly be turned in to an access road to a whole new housing estate.
It was really bad luck the arcade burnt down.... wasnt it :whistle:

I currently live in the Manston area of Thanet (on the out skirts, phew! 
), and can say the best thing about Margate is the road out of it, it's a dump and what Geldof said about it being ugly is very true!
Theres a Travel Lodge at Westwood Cross and theres a brand new cinema and some fast food type restaurants right next to it (Frankie and Bennys / Nandos...) so thats probably the best place locally to stay.
