I think it's hard to get any type of mortgage in the current climate, however the way house prices are going you won't need a mortgage at all on something like that

I would imagine it's harder to get a mortgage on that type of 'property', but you'll have to wait for someone last fast bloke to come along to get a professional opinion.

Oh Pete please!

Have you not noticed that the banks and building societies are still doing business? And their business is selling money! If you are credit worthy, money is available. And if you are not credit worthy, money is still available.

Open your eyes.

By the way, still living with Mum? At your age!

If you mean an Airey type property, then I believe you can't get a mortgage on them, unless it's been bricked up under the PRC scheme. I'm a conveyancer, not a mortgage advisor though.

PRC Properties Limited - Specialists in properties of Non-Traditional Construction

linky just to give you an idea of what your looking at, I think the actual PRC scheme is run by Halifax?

I was going to slag you off for the first bit, but the second bit nearly qualifies as a compliment

Scoob99 - Yes you can get a mortgage on it. Might be a bit more effort than on 'bricks and mortar' but providing it is structurally sound and won't blow away in a light breeze you will get some lenders prepared to use it as security

I should mention - they key to getting a mortgage on a building like this is to be able to get buildings insurance. If it is a postwar metal prefab it shouldn't be a problem. If it is one of the modern particle board flat pack versions, you may have more trouble getting insured

There was a bit of sarcasm on that first paragraph Howard - just seeing if the usual suspects would take the bait
