Where exactly within SN are you referring to, for example; in policy they're all closed once actioned.... in NSR the odd one or two may be closed, but it's hardly even a blip on the SN Richter scale

But have you seen the threads that have been locked?... look at LOUDGIRLS for example, not exactly worthy of a post in the first place

Recently NSR is being cluttered up with trash posts like this, which should either be in policy or muppets (or locked/vaped) so if the moderating team are actively 'moderating' this forum... well it gets a thumbs up from me...

Again, there aren't that many locked/vaped threads for a forum this size and I suggest that you focus on the amount of dross being posted of late rather than the fact affirmative action has been taken by the SN team

Due to a spate of whinging, we're all just a bit tired of hearing about "what about infractions", "how come this is locked", "freedom of speech is dead", etc, etc.

As you can see there are hundreds of new threads a day going up on scoobynet, and none of them are locked, deleted, or moderated. Let's just choose one of those topics to talk about and give the "scoobynet is out to get us" subject a rest.

I'm not going to lock this right now, but if it turns into a raging and heated debate with aggressive / cocky / offensive / abusive posts, I'll lock it, and issue infractions. I can't say this any clearer, so whether you agree with this or not, you'll only have yourself to blame if you end up one of the infracted.

I'm sorry Mr Webmaster but (with the up most respect) you really a bit of an aggressive nobber.. And you wonder why people get agitated?

I've been a member of very large web communities before and they have been killed dead by excessive control and commercialisation. NEVER forget the members are what makes AND made this site..

Glad to get that off my chest

Davey,

I posted in policy on this very same subject, and to some extent went through a one on one with Webby over the whole infraction system, which I feel is at the heart of all the recent unrest within SN.

You know me by now, I can't keep it in if I've something to say... even if it means getting my primary account banned within a 10 minute rant. But I have to say that there is no excessive control and commercialism remains rather low down the list (well I can't really see evidence of it).

I think this is getting to the point where we are all actively looking for reasons to complain. I mean I've read the same posts that you have and haven't been offended/bothered about them.

It's time to step back, take a breath and carry on where we left off... I like this site, this forum and you guy's make it fun (even NACRO ) and I'd rather be having fun and a laugh than going over old ground time & time again!!

So if anyone has naked pictures of their g/f or wife please pm them to me so I can start having fun again

P.S - Swiss, you first

Far from it.. I've seen it happen too many times before.. A large user base and support is what makes an online community; but when it is commercialised/cashed-in-on and controlled to an anally retentive level it will be destroyed..

You end up with a site full of job-worthy, ****, liberal, grey faced, bores who feel obliged to stick their ore in because they paid for that 'right'.. And no one with half an ounce of independent-thought wants to be a member of that club..

It only happens if we let it happen though. The trouble is if we aren't careful we're likely to turn this place into something worse than that description you've highlighted (full of job-worthy, ****, liberal, grey faced, bores), into somewhere full of resentful users bitching and sniping at each other for no real point or purpose.

I say we ignore recent happenings and move onwards and upwards.... as one SN user said (apologies as I can't remember who) evolve not revolve, which kinda makes sense to me now.....

It already is! So what are you suggesting? That the people who make this site (and most whom have paid to be here) should just roll over and ignore the way things are going just for the greater good?

I'm sorry but I dont subscribe to the Guardian so personally I'm not going to do that.

The ***** footing around of society really PISSES me off and online communities are supposed to be one of the last places that you arent constantly told what to do by middle class, one legged, sandal wearing lesbians who are lucky to have the mental capacity to remember to pull down their knickers to sh*t.

But to be fair are you suggesting that we (the people who make this site) should leave, complain constantly, post thread after thread about how we don't like it?

I can't see the point in that, it's self destruction on a massive scale... and would only bring about the demise of this site. That's not what I want though, I come on here to have a laugh... a bit of banter if you like, I've made friends with people on here, hell I've now even seen spoons g'f's breasts... why would I want to sabotage it all....?

I think the 'administration' should stand up and listen.. The webmasters posts are totally outside the interest of the community, they are very dictator like and remind me of times as a child when the owner of the football would take it home because he wasnt wining..

Yes I know the owner of SN paid money for it but come on!

Surely this is only happening because people are feeling there is a problem though?

I've been on SN for about 5 years now (new login when my laptop was nicked back in 2006) and a lot of the banter / discussion is watered down so much now that I can see where people are coming from. When you see respected long time users being infracted for their own opinion being found "offensive" by another member, you have to think that the system could be imporoved upon.

People then start questioning the system and threads about it get locked / infracted, seems a bit wrong.

The "rep" system was binned without anything like the same amount of hostility from the webmaster.

The community seems to be being forced down the "Politcal correctness" route that is spreading through the UK like a virus

Just seems less fun here now than it used to. Such a pity people cant use the ignore feature. In real life if you work with someone who's a tool you just ignore them - you dont wander over to where they are having a conversation and issue a warning because you dont like them! (of course here you dont even need to wander over - you just get them fired anonymously!)

That's a bit uncalled for .... BTW I haven't infracted you..... so you're unhappy with scoobynet then.... and your solution is to attack other members for no other reason than they may have a differing opinion/outlook than yourself....

Please explain how this makes your stance right, or is it just taking the opportunity to have a pop at me now, and to be honest go ahead if it makes you feel better!

Come on guys, less of the bickering, we are all here to have fun really arnt we? why are we bothering with such threads when we have women being posted in the sucked you off thread. The fun is still there, we just have to look a little harder for it and disguise it from the numpty infractors sometimes

Webby has already told us to bugger off, he started a poll and came back with a "I dont care what it says Im stil right" response, I think thats telling us that we should just forget all this rubbish and get on with why we are here. Forget the numpty infractors, thats what hotmail was invented for (new usernames ) And post what we want. Its not stopped me doing what I like here

Just as an aside - has "an infractor" ever come on one of these threads to give their side of the story? Perhaps explain why they felt the post in question deserved it and how the infraction gave them some course of redress....may explain why the system is of use. At present they seem a silent (but deadly) group of people!

I genuinely cant imagine anyone posting something that i would think needed an infraction....maybe because they are all on my ignore list anyway!

I have to agree to a point, a certain pug forum was one of the biggest and in the beginning a right hoot, but admin started clamping down saying much the same things as webby is, you know where the door is etc.

And now coincidentally they are far smaller than what they were as most folks have buggered off after getting tired of being dictated to.

There has to be a happy medium somewhere surely?

As Dave says i think some need to stand back take a breath and chill out, i'm not a big fan of the Infraction system tbh but its here to stay and thats it.

I cant believe so many people get so wound up i mean this in all due respect its only a internet forum at the end of the day - dont give yourselves a coronary or a stroke over it.

Lets all try and get on and lets not get all het up and start infracting away - take stock and ask yourself - is that person being downright abusive i.e. your a feckin *** etc. or can it just be constituted as banter.

If some one calls you a *** - PM them but be nice, 'hey mate dont call me a ***, please edit your post' - you know what i mean

I have never infracted anyone - if someone has a real problem with me then we should meet up and go for a pint

lets conserve our infraction/ban energies towards the spammers inc widgy pills, watches, steroids etc.

DCI - you speak a lot of sense my friend.

Its not the infraction system that is a problem, its the way it is ABUSED! Someone can anonymously, with out any real justification, infract a user because they don't agree with their opinion.. I'm sorry but open discussion and opinions are what forums are all about!

I totally agree with you on that point - sorry if i did not come across clear enough, i am all for the infraction system i am not a big fan because of the abuse and really it needs 'tweaking' so to speak
