it shows just how harsh and inhospitable that mountain is.

A humble man as well it was actually 20 years before he admitted being the 1st person at the top. He also spent a lot of time helpinf the Nepalese people.

I am sure he made a speech on the radio soon as him and the helper got to the top then moved down

At the time he and his sherpa Tensing refused to say who got to the top first. They both kept this silence for a very long time.
