I'd ask the Mrs for you, but her one is made by Bosch. Sorry I can't be of more help.

My parents had a Zanussi dishwasher for about 20 years. The only things that went wrong with it were:

1: The insulation would crack on the wires where the door hinges, causing a short (usually blowing the fuse in the plug).

2: The inlet valve failed.

From what you say, I think I'd be having a look at the inlet valve.

I'm an electrician and service engineer for Applied Energy i.e. Creda/Redring/Xpelair etc.

I had exactly the same problem on my old dishwasher TWICE and both times the solenoid coil had gone on the inlet valve. I replace loads of these on showers at work also as they are prone to fail quite a lot.

Best thing to do first is undo the water pipe to the dishwasher and check that the gauze filter on the inlet valve isn't blocked. If you are in a hard water area they can block within 3 years in some areas.

Make sure you unplug the dishwasher!!
The easiest way to change the solenoid is to pull the wires off the coil which will have spade terminals on. Then pull the solenoid coil off the valve body body and just try replacing that only. Just push the new coil on and connect the live/neutral spade terminals back on, 99 times out of 100 that will fix it.

Buying a complete valve body and changing the whole unit could be pricey and quite a pain. A solenoid coil is pretty cheap and easy to swap.

Hope this makes sense!!

Thanks for replies,

sounds like it could be expensive, not going to pay to have it repaired when I can buy a new one for 400-500 notes...

A new 230volt solenoid coil should be less than £10 and if a mate has an old shower lying around that most likely will have one that will fit as they are a pretty much a standard size.
