i would love to live on a good river, obviously the floods would become an issue but the thought of canoeing, fishing, nice little cruising boat.

It's the River Loddon which feeds into the Thames at Shiplake near Henley.
The floodplain is the other side of the river luckily, and there's quite a a few steps to get down to it from where we are. There's a boathouse at the bottom of the garden which will be awesome for barbies in the summer, quite fancy fitting a canoe rack in the dock bit underneath

Mate of mine used to have a small river at the bottom of his garden. He had half an aircraft tip tank for a canoe. Trouble was it was almost impossible to use it without getting into a wobble from side to side. Good for a laugh though.
