Going Through a Bad Spell With Retailers ..
Had to return a faulty item ( within 28 days) to E-Buyer a week ago ..... not had any communication from them as yet.
Then damaged goods arrived from Play.com last week, I have gone through their stated route to get a returns number and no contact as yet.
Maybe, after the disgraceful treatment Currys dish out I am being particularly sensitive and expecting all retailers to be as bad ......... but, when you order, you get an e-mail each day it seems telling you that Billy is wrapping it and Mary is about to take it to Postman Pat. But on the 'Returns' they seem really silent??
Should I start worrying??
The Play.com item was pretty cheap, but will be expensive to post back - the postage will be more than it costs Play.com to buy the item in the first place ..... so, it's a tricky one. Do they just send a new one or demand the damaged one back and pay more than they get back? Is that why they are so slow?
Am I being paranoid thinking everyone may be as bad as Currys??

Done a return to E Buyer, went through fairly smoothly if I remember correctly, seem to remember having to ring them after going through the whole procedure on the web site but that was only to arrange for a courier to collect.

I've had to make a return to E-Buyer before. It did take a while to get sorted out (about a month in all with only occasional communication), but they did replace the item without any argument.

I returned a monitor to eBuyer - took a while and cost me £20 to return it but it was a £260 monitor that I hated so it was worth it.
Only problem was I had my CC cloned in Sheffield (Ebuyer home town) a few days after the return had gone through, and the money was back on my card - maybe just coincidence but I'm not sure
Pete - maybe Currys have had you blacklisted with all retailers so they send you dodgy stuff out

I used to use play.com a lot, but after having to deal with their customer service once or twice I swore I'd never use them again (and I never have).

At this time of year play increase their staffing levels from around 400 to 700 employees.
That's three hundred casual and temp staff who don't give a damn.
No wonder customer service takes a nose dive around Christmas.
Cheers

Someone from Play.com was on Working Lunch on BBC 2 today - they take on 400 temps over the Christmas period as 50% of their business is done in Dec. That's a lot of people who don't give a damn, unless they want a job afterwards!

I bought a PS2 game from play once, and they sent the wrong one - albeit with a similar title. Took about 3 attempts to get the right one sent, as each time they sent me a replacement and sent the wrong one again. That said, they did pay for all the postage costs, so I wasn't out of pocket.

E-Buyer have confirmed the fault and have sent a replacement unit .... good, but they also said that they would refund the return postage .. in this case that was £6:45 (will they simply credit my credit card?)
Play.com have said that I need to send back to Jersey ... postage will be refunded up to £1:50 - but, they will refund more if it costs more. The item was £5:99 I guess the postage will be about the same? It's complete madness!!
