Got out and played Hell with a guy on the M1 last night
Traffic was all backed up as I tried to join the M1S from the M62 and we were stood still. The prat behind me had his full beams AND fogs on and I had to dip my mirror to ease the distraction. I flashed my rear fogs to no avail, so I switched my lights on and off a couple of times. No reaction ! So I thought f**k it, and got out to chat to him. He was completely oblivious, and looked like he wasn't even sure how to switch them off
Can we please have some more traffic cops who educate these imbeciles ? I'd make it law that fogs had to have an irritating chime every 30 seconds and must self cancel when the ignition is turned off, disabling the chime would be an offense with its operation part of the MOT. Misuse of vehicle lighting would carry a warning on the first offense, £250 on the second and a £500 fine and 3 points on the 3rd offense Hit 'em hard and they might learn

Most foggies DO go off with the ignition, and require some physical action to turn them back on.
On (most) Fords you have to pull the headlight switch out to turn them on, and when you switch the lights off it 'pulls' the switch back in, and I think the Scoob self cancels when the ignition is off (Don't use them, so I'm unsure)
A lot of it's down to the "God, these look cool" mentality, IMHO.
Be thankful he was stationary behind you, I usually get them doing 55mph in lane 3, on a clear road, whilst on the phone to the g/f and drinking a McLatte
BTW, how's the nipper?

We had Jade into PGI with it on Xmas eve the year she was born. Though 'tis fairly common and not too much of a worry AFAIK.

Must be the M1, a few occasions I've followed cars on the M1 Northbound on a clear and dry night and they're sat in the middle lane with high beams on and rear fog light! Flashing the big lamps on my classic doesn't even make them aware, totaly oblvious or just not bothered....so I just sit behind them flashing the full beams til they turn them off.

Think it should be law that have a seperate light on the dash that indicates the front fogs are on as well. Annoys the hells out of me amount of idits I see driving with side lights and front fogs on !
If I came to power I would stop everyone that drives with them on at the wrong time, no fine but they would be smashed and then issued with a summons that they have to have to get them fixed with a set perios of time

I'm all for a crackdown - have the coppers stop these people and then if they say "oh, I didn't notice" then do them for reckless driving. Not being familiar with the controls of your car IS pretty reckless..!
And for those who think they look cool then the punishment would be to have the cataracts recently removed from some old person inserted into them to show them what reduced visibility actually means.
Oh - and confiscation of the car and a million pound fine.

I saw one last night on the M20:
MPV with scab mum and kids in middle lane with inside lane empty for 1mile+
she also had completly blacked out windows with the rear fog turned on and
Front fogs on, it was a clear dry day?

They'd soon turn 'em off once that count down started. Either that, or a big spike that shoots up their jacksy!
Oh, and if you decide to invent the sensor, can I have a percentage?.....as it was my idea!

I was driving down the M1 last night and some complete numpty gets out his car and starts walking down the carriageway!!!
The carnage could've been a nightmare! Fortunately the guy in the car behind him gave him a right earful and he got back in his own car pretty damn sharpish!
(for those with a sense of humour bypass... this is a joke )

Driving to work the other morning, it was frosty, couldn't believe the amount of numpties with fog lights on (or do foggies stop you from skidding ) Their average speed on an NSL road was about 35

Just had another chat with a wimmin outside a shop who was unaware she had her rear fogs on Pointed out to her (nicely) that she was more likely to get hit (by me ) as people may not notice her brake lights. The confusion made her eyes glaze over

I've recently noticed quite a few Mercs that one or both front fog lamps come on and off and it always seems to be when they're going round corners.
Wether it's a wiring problem or not, but it seems very odd.

I left work at about half six in the evening on Friday, it's pitch black and drizzling
I turned out onto the main road toward the motorway and a car coming the other way was flashing his lights, no not at me, at the car in front of me.
It had NO lights on at all !!
My turn to flash at him now.
Distance... oooh about half a mile up to the roundabout to the Motorway, he still hadn't woken up by then, although could obviously see me flashing as he kept turning round, looking frantically in his mirrors and stuff.
Down the slip road he went onto the motorway, still oblivious that he was in total darkness. Defies belief, it really does.
