I used to have the toy motorcycle and model of him in his star-spangled banner cape. He was indeed an icon.

The man. He jumped down my stairs when I was eight. 12 stairs and all that happened was the front wheel coming off and he smashed into the radiator, no harm done. Shine on you crazy diamond. RIP.

One of my childhood and i'm sure many other childrens hero.

Jeremy Clarkson once said "i'd rather crash through the gates of hell Backwards in a Ball of fire, than end up there with a tube up my nose" i'd imagine thats how Evil would have gone to be honest, doing the job he loved.

just good that his Son Robbie is continuing in his fathers footsteps.

The bloke was a star and i'm another who had the toys and saw him as a childhood hero. The motorbike toy and rider I had as a kid was one of my favourite toys.

i read his biography a couple of years ago. very interesting stuff and if you're a fan or even just remotely interested, it's well worth reading. he used to call himself them greatest daredeveil in the world until (i think this is right, but the timing may not have been relevant) robbie managed to land the jump at caesars palace. then he said he was the father of the greatest daredevil in the world.

a truly remarkable life - and much longer than many would have thought. RIP evel
