Petrol stations closing during filling???
Has anyone noticed that this seems to be the norm now? It never used to be the case, the tanker would roll in and drop its load while cars were still filling up but now they all seem to shut down?
Is this some new pointless "anti-torrorism" law or something?

Our local tescos doesnt shut as they are 'driver controled delivery' and the tanker doesnt have to enter the forecourt.
The other garage local to us does shut though as the tanker has to enter the forecourt

One of my local petrol stations started doing it a while ago and I thought maybe it was just their "company policy" but now all the other local garages are doing it, and on the way into work I notice if they are filling they close.. Strangeness!

I think it depends on the filling method tbh.
Places that have remote filling stations i.e not ON the forecourt seem to stay open. But im sure some of you are old enough to remember that it used to be done directly into the tanks from above them, by removing drain covers, so it was too dangerous to let people move about on the forecourt. Im sure some still do.
But at the end of the day, yeah its H&S.

My local stations are all filled on the fourcourt, but its only recently that they have closed for this though, they used to just get on with it.. Just wondering if there was a recent law change or something?

I dont have a problem with it, it seems one of the more sensible rules to be honest. You must have spotted the smokers sitting in cars while the driver fills up?

the council H&S brigade are a complete bunch of *****. When they turn up all they care about is paper work. Tick the right boxes on the 2000 forms you have to fill in and they are happy. Miss one box and then they try to coerce you into paying for one of their ridiculous training courses.
I had Environmetal Health around this week. They had been phoning me to try to get me to pay for staff training and I kept telling them to bog off so they sent an inspector around for a check. She spent less than five minutes checking that everything was clean dated and organised in the kitchens and 30 min going over pointless paper work looking for boxes not ticked. In the old days they would spend up to 40 minutes checking every square inch of the place for dirt and germs, now you can happily serve food in a **** tip provided the paper work is correct.
