Circle of willis
Ok dokey I'm going to be serious for a change.
I got a CT scan recently for my throat as it was thought I had cancer, thankfully I don't have cancer although I do need more surgery to fix my voice properly Anyhoo the CT scan showed I had an aneurism (sp) in my circle of willis part of my brain Anyone any idea what that means (I'd google it but knowing Google it'll spew out loads of inaccurate ****)
I got an appointment for another CT scan to be done in January to see if I need surgery to fix it.
It's driving me daft knowing I have this thing in my head which could burst Anyone got any experiences of such things?
Apparently they are quite common, anyone can have them and live a happy life without ever knowing they are there. Am I just being paranoid as I know it is there?
Ignorance is bliss I suppose Sorry for being serious but it is bugging me
Tam

tam, we all know your a nutter anyway
seriously though, i guess most of us would rather 'not know than know'..
think its always more of a positive than a negative if a hospital says we'll see you in a month /two /three etc.. rather than ''we'll keep you in , now''
so dont worry too much (easily said I know)and toddle along for your next appointment in Jan

I can understand that it must be a bit of a worry Tam, but since they are not rushing you in for sugery now, it cant be that bad. As you say, don't put the BP up for the moment
Hope it all turns out well for you.

Circle of Willis: An arterial circle at the base of the brain that is of critical importance. The circle of Willis receives all the blood that is pumped up the two internal carotid arteries that come up the front of the neck and that is pumped from the basilar artery formed by the union of the two vertebral arteries that come up the back of the neck. All the principal arteries that supply cerebral hemispheres of the brain branch off from the circle of Willis.
The circle of Willis is often not complete. Maximally, only a third of people enjoy a complete circle of Willis. This is of importance in the event that one of the major arteries (an internal carotid or vertebral artery) supplying the circle of Willis is occluded. The presence of a complete circle of Willis permits a continuing supply of blood to the entire brain and helps avert a stroke.
