Default Shipping something large/heavy transatlantic...

Simple question...

Something needs shipping from US->Uk
Weighs something like 250lbs+ (some club speaker cabs with some other bits)... any suggestions on shipping?
Surface not a problem... just anyone reputable that could be recommended would be useful.

Thanks in advance

Avoid ecotrans

They lost 2 x crates for us from sweden, each weighing half a ton. Gone, vanished, never to be seen again. The suppliers were not happy with this, as the contents were worth about 60K. So some bright spark there got hold of a list of every depot and company that were, or could have been involved in the delivery chain of the goods, and emailed them offering a £500 reward per crate.

They appeared 2 days later

tossers!

What are the dimensions ?, your volumetric weight could be higher than the actual weight and then it gets a bit more expensive, I wouldn't suggest you use the Co I work for as we are the most expensive express freight co in the world, but also the fastest

You might be better off going direct to an airline, no idea if they take stuff over the counter these days it's probably all contract what with heightened security.

Ill be on to BA cargo later seeing if they can quote me.
Would love to bring as hold baggage- on BA in club class Im permitted a whopping 3x32kg bags and they would probably let me have a little bit more as a gold card holder but even so, im still thirty something kilos over weight, and its only two pieces not three

Cheers for the suggestions guys....will do some more digging

One piece of advice, if you can afford to send as "BA Prioritise" service it stands every chance of getting on the flight, if you send as general cargo it may sit in the cargo shed for 3 days, this is the norm with BA cargo at Heathrow ans many other destinations around the world, it's crap out of Heathrow and we haven't used for over 15 years !! but the Priortise service is pretty good, that said they left 5 of my Prioritise consignments behind yesterday and I didn't even get a phone call, b*stards

LGW are miles better than Lhr,
we only use prioritse if its an am departure and we may struggle to get it down in time.
