At least do a poll chop, hrumph!
I'd have thought Simon staying on is to aid a smooth transition, rather than boosting his takehome - but then again every little helps

Made ted enough to buy a used GT3 RS.
However you look at it, fair play to Simon, he's put the effort in and reaped the rewards. And don't forget the money he has put in over the years....I bet if you add up the time and money he has put in, he hasn't got any pay back.

Shrewed move.
TBH I thought it had already happened back during the period between March and June. As it seemed something was up to cause the changes to happen.
Seems I was close: The shake up was enforced to make the site a more attractive prospect, rather than being under new ownership.

I don't really care TBH. I'm sure everyone here goes to work or has something on the side, and probably makes money or even a profit out of it. I thought that was normal? And just because Simon keeps saying "we're doing it for the community" - and what? You don't see any products advertised as "buy this so we can make more dosh" do you?
Don't understand what all the fuss is about.

Well in this instance in short: its a step up from a enthusiast's website run by a (once) enthusiast, to what is now a commercial website owned by a commercial company.
Welcome to commercialdom
It's been filtering in over the past few years anyway, so its not liek its going to make a huge difference. But the original trigger, or spark (if you could call it that) of it being purely a forum for a core community is now long gone.
You could say it grew out of it, or you could say it was forced to use commercialism to feed/sustain its growth.
If this wasn't a commercial website, it would still be using the original forum software running on a 486 DX2 66 server, and would only cope with 10 users online
